I see nothing wrong w/ wslmart fabric!Like everything you need to be SELECTIVE! I've seen stuff at LQS that I wouldn't buy. Walmart often have overuns or fabric that were overstock from a manufacture. The much prized FEEDSACKS from the 30's--how would they stand up to LQS standards?(they wouldn't) Feel it scrunch it inspect it for slubs or missprinting! Then buy it and make a quilt!I've gotten MANY wonderful fabrics from there-they held up great even after many washing(finished)-even w/o pre-washing!!

I was at our Walmart last night and bought some fabric for my 4th of July quilt. It is red/white/blue star fabric. It feels really nice and was only $2.96 a yard. All of their coordinating prints to this was the same price. Hancock Fabric has patriotic prints but theirs is quite as nice.

I dropped $220 in WalMart the other day off the clearance tables. Mostly "tween" flavor prints for pillowcases and pj's. Also some licensed juvenile prints that had a good weight to them. I like the feel of the David Textile brand. I also bought some for a quilt for my Mom at the nursing home for $1 a yard in a soft lavender and black family, four prints. The nursing home launders stuff in the industrial machines, so I don't bother spending a lot on her bedding, but they usually last a couple of years anyway. I still love WalMart. Our LQS gets in some collections that have such a light hand to them that I wonder why they are still charging $10/yd. I think you have to look over everything, because you don't always get what you pay for, and bargains can be found in the least likely places.

I have been in 2 different Wal-Marts this week, and to my delight they both have fabric now. One had pre-cut selections, fat quarters, jelly rolls etc only and the other was fabric on bolts, nothing was pre-cut.

i sure hope it comes back to my walmart all we have is precuts and the fat quarters are $2 as much as my lqs. so i dont shop at walmart anymore for fabric but if they brought back yardage i would definitly get it if it was nice stuff.

While looking on line for patriotic prints I found some (for 9.99) that was exactly the same as I had purchased at Wal-Mart for 4.44. Big difference. We are in Pahrump, NV right now and the WalMart has a nice fabric area. The LQS is mostly Japanese prints and does not have regular hours and never answered my email. We are going to spend the summer in Williams, AZ and there is a LQS there that I am hoping has some good sales.
