I use more fabric from WalMart than JoAnns and Hancock put together I have never pre-washed and there hasn't been one shrink usually the only thing wrong with their fabs is it got off centered on the wrap at the mill -my W/M has a much better assortment of Batiks and 1/2 the price of Js or Hs and a free Quilt of the month pattern and the fabs to make them in. I had to make a dress JoAnns had a sale 50% --$15yd reg =$7.50-- a glass of 7-up spilled on fab -sticky-washed it I lost 6in on the lgt and 2 1/2 on wd in the washer I did not put it in the dryer this was PRE-Shrunk but in my case it was RE-Shrunk and no satisfaction from JoAnns so now I only buy thread at Js

our local wal mart is also offering fat quarters exactly like the ones that Jo Ann stores offer at about 60 cents cheaper. The clerk told me the supplier is the same on Jo Ann uses. I found that interesting. Our store is also getting in some nicer and newer fabrics. Not the quality exactly as the LQS but not all that bad. At least it is a little more affordable......

Yep Wally world seems to be putting in a better grade of fabric. We never lost our department but they are upgrading it appears!

Now I want to start by saying I realize that Wal-Mart fabric is a different grade than LQS, but the prints they were bringing out were WONDERFUL! On top of that, they have "families" of fabrics just like my LQS has. So you didn't have to guess if it would coordinate or not.

I just wanted to put this out there. If they indeed are going to have this moving forward (it's never been offered in my area before) I'm super excited. I love my LQS, but this would be a great alternative for doing quilts that when you're budget is tight, or you want more bang for your buck, etc.

Did I mention the price on it was anywhere from 3.75 to 4.50 a yard? I didn't have time to pick any up yesterday, but plan on going after work today to get some just to try it out.
The WalMart here always had fabric families and once each month new coordinates came in along with a limited number of copies of a quilt pattern with which to use the fabric. I've got a whole collection of the patterns and bought many of the fabrics, which, despite their low price, ($2.97 a yard) had a wonderful hand.

That was less than five years ago and I am certainly hoping that the WalMart here soon restores that department. I called the manager and asked about it, but got the answer that they don't know year, but are hoping the fabric department is returned.

But I haven't yet seen the addition of any of the 8,000 items that WalMart took off the shelves in hopes of attracting "up-scale" shoppers! Maybe it just takes a long time to correct huge mistakes. froggyintexas

Some Walmarts that have FBY also have quilt of the month fabric & free patterns. I have been collecting these patterns for 13 years. They will repeat the patterns but with different fabric.

Wondering, is this a Super Walmart store or one of the older ones? I would love to see fabric back in Walmart. We have Super Walmart stores here.

Those are really nice looking fabrics. Our Walmart says NO WAY are we getting fabrics back. Guess that is the price I pay for living 1/2 mile from the beach. They would rather sell beach chairs, suntan lotion and airbrushed tee shirts.
