My only complaint about seeing quilts draped over something is that I sometimes can't see the whole quilt, and sometimes that is necessary to truly appreciate the design.

Since my hobbies are quilting AND photography, I love to see quilts in beautiful places--it adds dimension to both!

I have quilts on the beds in the bdrms(3) but also in those rooms there are those wall mounted shelves with the wooden dowel below...country design...and there is a quilt hanging on that....don't worry those shelves are on the same wall as window...so no sun fading. The wooden dowel has a cotton sleeve... I change those hanging quilts periodically...this way I can enjoy my quilts more!

I love to see quilts in beautiful places. The quilts are there for only the time of the photo taking so I don't think any harm is done if the area is checked out first.

I agree. I've even seen that done where they are trying to sell the pattern or kit. A big waste of their $ and effort to me. If I can't see the quilt how do I know if I would like to make it?

There are many who just don't understand (and never will) the value of something handmade and treat it accordingly. We live in an instant-gratification, throw away world, so it's no wonder. The most you can do is be judicious in selecting the recipients of your handwork, as it is wasted on those who are clueless.

Two years ago, I gave my niece a baby quilt for her first baby. Here is what she said when she opened it:

"Oh, that's really cute--it's so BIG!" (I make them bigger so the child can grow into it.) "We can use this for a picnic blanket."

I was upset that she instantly relegated it to a lesser function than what was intended and left me sad that the baby wouldn't get to use it.

Her second baby did not get a quilt.

Terri, I understand completely. I made an I Spy quilt for my nephew's son for his second birthday. (Dec 30). I still have not had a thank you. My sister had to tell me that it actually arrived. They now have a daughter. I am not making anything.

i often wonder if people do that so you cant copy the pattern on your own. I still enjoy the photos.
