All she has to do is come into the living room and I'll give her attention. She usually lays next to me, or preferably on my lap. I hung up a feathered toy that she she can jump at. She has even jumped from the 5' high top of my folded up treadmill, to the table, slid on the placemats, and off the other side.

I'll put foil on the table before I leave for work and see what happens to it.

I agree with everyone else... poor kitty won't connect the punishment; Cats love to be up high, do you have a cat tree, ledge, something she can climb up on? even a old blanket stapled to a 2x4 leaned on something she can climb on might fix it pretty easliy. use something'tacky' to cover your table, that'l stop that, they hate 'sticky'

Or one that is way stubborn. I have a stubborn dog, so I can empathize with you. We have leather furniture in the living room, and our dog ( a boxer) would not stay off of it. I put tissue paper under a blanket and covered the couch with that. He did not like the crinkly feel/sound and after about 3 jumps up on it, he stopped. He hasn't jumped on it for 3 years now. I think the foil might work. My friend put foil in the baby's bed (before the baby got here) to break her cats from jumping up in the bed. She's had no problems with the cats and the baby bed.

I find that my cat wants to be up high, he gets on the table too and looks around to see if I'm looking, as soon as I yell at him he gets down tho, but he goes in the sewing room and climbs up on the shelves and lays there. He tries to lay on the pourch rail of but it's too narrow so we put up a small square board in the corner for him, he can lay on it an look down at his kingdom! (we're on pilings)

I was thinking this morning that I should get a tall cat tree with a platform that she can get on, put it in front of the non-sliding side of the patio door so she can look out. Sometimes I think she is eyeing the hanging light over the table as something to jump on too.

She has a small platform at my upstairs bedroom window that she can look out of so she is not totally deprived of surveying her kingdom.

I was using Cling Wrap the other day and it may have enough sticky on it to dissuede her. I've had good luck with tape in the past. Water and yelling only work if you catch her in the act - sticky stuff is effective whether you see her or not.

I close my cat in my sewing room, when we are at work and at night. I have 1 out of 4 cats that will jump on top of things. He is 3 yr.s old and just onery. he does just like you cat, try confining it to a closed room or large cage - large enough to put a litter box and food and water. I use to do this, it will need something a little higher than the floor of the cage. This room is smaller and no room for it. Sfe for them and my stuff.
