I also had a quilt my grandmother started in 1935. I finished it in 2008. About 8 different people worked on it by the time it was finished. I think that is over 70 years. If I ever learn how to post pictures I will show everyone.

I have a quilt top that my mom started over 22 years ago when she found out that I was pregnant with my daughter, I was suppose to finish it for my grandbaby and never finished. Maybe my daughter can finish it for her grandbaby! Mom has another that she wants me to finish that she hand embroidered back in the 70's. I dont have that one but she has showed it to me a couple of times asking me my opinion and weather or not I could finish it. My fear with both is that they are so old that I wonder how the fabric would hold up to washing. She didnt use the best quailty of fabric on the baby quilt and the colors are a problem also.

I have a quilt top my grandmother made in the early thirties that I inherited. I keep thinking I'd like to finish it but can't bring myself to do it. I have one from my aunt that still has the paper in it (newspaper dated 1941) that I would like to finish but hate to tear out that precious newspaper. Oh well, I'll pass them on to my sister.

I took a hand quilting class when I was pregnant with my son -- he's turning 28 next month and the completed quilt top is still in the closet. My mother-in-law gave me a double wedding ring top that her 100-year-old grandmother-in-law pieced as a wedding gift in 1947 -- mother-in-law didn't like the background color, and now I'm supposed to "do something" with it. It would feel almost wrong to finish either one of these by machine.

32 years old
Started a quilt for my daughter before her 1st birthday - she turned 32 this year. I vowed to get it done THIS year, it's about 3/4 of way done so I should be able to accomplish that.

1976 must have been the year to start quilts. Mine are Monkey Wrench blocks that I started right after I was married from fabric from my family home. I made a few and stuffed it in a shoe box. Fast forward to summer 2010. I finally started cleaning out the top high shelf (you need a ladder) in my sewing room and found them. I was going to just tip them all in the trash but when I really looked at them, I just couldn't. There were all the little bits of my past, my 4-H blouse, my grade eight dress, the camper curtains etc. I got busy, starched the **** out of all that old fabric and stitched enough blocks to make two large lap or single bed sizes for quilts for my sister and me. It will be a priceless family memory as we lost our parents recently and the family home was cleaned out and sold. It will be a little hello from the past each time we use it. I hope to get them quilted soon and give one to my sister for her birthday.

I have a postage stamp top pieced by my great-grandmother- who passed away in 1912. I also have a quilt that I pieced by hand while lying in a hospital bed in 1996 (I lost the use of my right leg due to a spinal injury) I was soooo bored. My husband cut out all the pieces. I started to hand quilt it as well, but then I had surgery, recovered and never looked back. It's half quilted in a closet. Not the oldest, though my great gran's might be!
