Just a note to anyone taking coumadin or any very powerful drug -- please be sure to check with your pharmacist -- when my deceased DH was taking so many powerful drugs, the docs didn't always know how one would affect another. We had some close calls for a while -- and this includes being in the hospital, too.

He was diabetic, had a heart condition, failing kidneys, seizures, and lukemia as well as a few other not nice problems. There were so many specialists that our pharmacist was a great help. I pored over the big PDR book for some of the things, but he had so much more expertise.

My heart and prayers go out to my friends who have health problems

Thanks,Cindy.....I'm pretty bad at finding lame excuses to let me eat too much. Bad me! I must get back to writing down every bite.No matter how I try,not journaling is the first step back to gaining for me. Thanks for the encouragement. How's it going with you?

Short--- please find some kind of Diabetic support group to help you since new diagnosis. Good Luck with quiting your PT job, see if there is anyway you can get up and move hourly.

MJ - I know you need to watch what food you eat too as some of the foods can affect the way comudin works.

mim -- i know what you mean about not knowing what day it is. With being out of work, I didn't pay attention except for the days I had doc appointments. and for those I put them in my email calendar with a reminder to pop up 24 hrs in advance. That is my only way of paying attention to days.

Thanks for the input, I have similar problems although not as extensive, and my Target pharmacist is awesome, one of the "temporary" medications I was prescribed, she let me know it didn't work well with one of my daily RX and offered to call my doctor and recommend an alternative that would. I love Target pharmacy!!!

I have finally found a brown rice my husband and son live. Brown basmati rice is really good. I have always preferred brown rice to white but it was a pain to cook 2 different types of rice all the time. They like the brown basmati so now I only have to cook one kind:-)

I am doing well Patti.....finally got back to work, working part time to increase up to full time. I have beat this cancer and will live a normal life again.

Once I am done with my therapy I will join the gym at the hospital. Mom has joined the gym and when I go for therapy she goes for workouts with a personal trainer. I am so proud of her, been a couch potato for about 2 yrs now.

Wow I had so many pages to catch up! It seems like the longer I am out of work the less I manage to get done in a day. Well it's also that time of year. Between the shorter days and the colder days I just can't focus. I didn't make it through the no extra salt taboo, but I probably cut my salt usage in half. I decided if I tried to cut all extra salt I would go right back at the end of the week, instead I chose to use half as much and try to keep that up as long as possible. So far that is working. The white food challenge is another tough one, I absolutely love potatoes of any kind. But I think I will try the brown basmati rice, to replace white rice.

Cindy I love the batiks, can't wait to see the new ones. I think 4 hours for your first day back is great. It is very hard to go back after being off for a long time. I was off for a month after my celiac diagnosis. I was so severely anemic that I was in the hospital for days receiving blood. Then on medication for weeks before my blood count was high enough to go back to work. Then I was only back on half days the first week.

The spicy spiral is beautiful Irishrose! I think the dark binding looks great, visually it really does bind it altogether. The banana bread with chocolate chips sounds yummy.

meanmom where did you find flamingo pjs????? I need some!

MJ the blue quilt is going to be so pretty, don't you think blue is peaceful and calming?

A new week is beginning and I will move more this week, whether I want to or not.

Lauriejo, do you want to borrow Lily and Moira? They are good to go no matter what the weather. I am glad we had decent, though cold weather this afternoon. I just heard we are due for gale force winds tonight. With nearly a foot of new snow, that could be interesting. Wind plus cold means staying indoors. I do have to go to the church tomorrow to work on a quilt for an online auction for abused women. I hate sewing HSTs when I'm not the presser or trimmer, but no one else will do it. I have not worked with flannel in a quilt. Gr-r-r. I also have to get up early. Double Gr-r-r.

I have been putting the corners on snowballs. Now I know how to do something else. I've learned a lot in my year of quilting. So far the focus fabric is too bright for a prayer quilt, but I'm not going to worry until it's all together. The pale 9 patches and border may calm it down.

I didn't plan my eating today, so consequently I ate everything and anything. I hate Sundays. For many, many years Sunday was family day - with the size of our family, it was like a party every week - and these alone ones are hard. Back to normal tomorrow.

Is the brown basmati on the grocery shelf or is it a natural food store item? It sounds good. I wasn't impressed with the pulled pork at the restraurant last night. My son took it to eat on the road today. I don't know if he'll eat it cold or rig someway to heat it. I'm surprised McGyver Jr hasn't done any ''manifold cooking' while he's on the road. I made him Chex mix and date balls for the road. I bought the ingredients at Christmas but ran out of time. Better late than never.

I'm taking my own machine tomorrow. It's too hard trying to find a scant 1/4" on an unfamiliar machine. I also have trouble sewing with a machine on a table, but that can't be helped. There's no machine in a cabinet at the church. I know it's just all in my head because it's what I'm used to, but whatever. I had better start packing. I want that thing together tomorrow, so I don't want to forget anything I might need.

Am I stalling starting my next b'day quilt because it's for my 'particular' daughter or because it has curved seams? I need to have that other spiral runner done by early Feb, too.

I wish all of us a healthy eating and exercising day tomorrow. I am gaining control of my weight and getting healthier. Judy

MJ glad to hear you joined WW. I joined the first of the month. I joined the internet group and so far so good.

Pam H how is Ethan? we haven't heard any thing about him for the longest time.

Is it me or does it seem like the month is just crawling. I do WW. I go to quilting class at church and a Bible Study Thursday morning but it just seems like things are dragging.
Sat DH and I are going to be starting a log cabin quilt group at our LQS. Is log cabin hard to get the hang of? This class meets for three months one day a month six hour a day.

Cindy from the FQ's coming in it sounds like we have quit a group.

I've been trying to post more but my computer kept sending me to a list of web sights.Wierd. But it looks like we're going now.

Everyone have a good day. God Bless.
