Jacquie,
If my memory serves me correctly, my grandmother explained to me that the 3/80 means there are 3 threads twisted together and 80 is the size of thread. Similar to the size when we buy perle cotton for embroidery, DMC Brand has 3, 5,8 12 the higher the number the finer the thread.and the other number is the color

Dayle, there is another picture i would like to share with you and the group...
during my years as a 'carer' in an old folks home run by the 'church of scotland' i collected a lot of old sewing baskets from ladies who had passed away. so, my bobbin collection is like looking at candy, i can tell you.
well, one of the bobbins of cotton i used to stitch down the hair had some old writing on it written with a fountain pen...
it says, in lovely penmanship...
"Super, 3/80, 68," (not too sure what that means)
then a date...
"7/9/26" so in the UK, that's 7th September 1926.
so Dolly Rachael really is a 1930's dolly!
here is a pic...

the date might have to do with the dye lot / or she may have dyed it herself and dated it

Here's a look at Patti's Row Robin so far, along with a "Peek" at what my thoughts are busy churning out for her "3rd Row". Just happen to have some Pansey fabric right here on hand ... didn't have to go out, to one of our fabric stores to find it! Got a "Tea Pot" all schetched out .... getting it ready for appliqueing.

Steaming HOT STITCHERS, creating STEAMING HOT ROWS. All three of you have done a wonderful job. I could never have imagined anything so grand. Thank you all for the talent you have used to make this so special.
