If it works out, then I need to figure out how to get it home... I doubt it will fit in my Geo Metro!

    What kind of needles?
It does take bobbins designed for White rotary machines (as opposed to a shuttle). I've found replacements on several sites that should work.

One thing about the White treadles I didn't figure out until messing with mine is that there is a release lever/button on the front bed to unhook it from the cabinet and lift it forward/back to expose the bottom and the hinge screws. Very helpful if you are taking the machine out and stuffing parts into a small car. :)

I'm really good at starting projects, just need to finish some now! I'm all gung-ho about the embossed White, but I was going to work on my treadle base this weekend. Instead, I tore apart a motor, cleaned it up, and got it back together. No controller yet, so I have no idea if it works. :)

Took forever to get apart. Grime from 1931 makes great glue!

That's the ticket! Shiny is good.

All done, except now I have to fix the part I put on upside down.

Maybe if it works and I don't electrocute myself when I finally get to test it. :)

Meanwhile, I did find these helpful

Cleaning another type of small motor: http://books.google.com/books?id=rnO...page&q&f=false

Video on how motors work. (I like to know the "why" too, and I pretty much ignored high school physics). http://youtu.be/RAc1RYilugI

Yes, it has the 3 flat prong plug thing on it. All the pedals and cords I have are the Singer "smile" 3 round prongs.

I just don't know how you can do such a great job on the
old sewing machines. It is like you bring them back to life.
