Try alcohol. I accidently laid a plastic bag on my washer that had black print on it. It transferred to the washer. I used alcohol and just a quick rub took it off.

This is what I use to remove Sharpie marks. I write settings I use often on my sewing machine and if/when I want to remove it, I just use a cotton ball and fingernail polish remover to clean it off. Works great.

Rather than rubbing alcohol, try denatured alcohol (get it at your hardware store). If that does not work try acetone. Be careful with these as they have strong fumes and use rubber gloves. Unless the plate is porous, they should work fine.

You may also apply hydrogen peroxide directly on the surface and leave it for a few minutes. Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizer and is also used as a bleaching agent that will loosen the marker.
If hydrogen peroxide doesn’t work, you can also try alcohol. After doing so, scrub the surface again with a nylon pad.

Try "Magic Eraser," which has baking soda in it. I find it works for just about everything.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (they also come in sheets now, the pack looks like a book and has like 16 sheets) or GooGone always works for me.

I mark on glass with Sharpies all the time when creating a stained glass window. Alcohol removes it. I've never had a problem removing the numbers from each piece when finished. I have foamy glass cleaner in a can for polishing.

Use a mr clean eraser, or similar product. It will definitely work. Been there, done that.
