Default Is there a way to get permanent marker off of a cutting mat?

Hello.. I've got a small line of permanent marker on my cutting mat and was wondering if there is anyway to remove it without harming the mat.
Thank you.

Rubbing alcohol will remove permanent marker.

Be careful with the nail polish remover. I prefer alcohol and hairspray on the magic eraser. I try to keep a piece of wax paper nearby if I need to use permanent marker. I like to use the washable markers.
