Glad to know I'm not alone! I like the traditionals also, especially when they're hand quilted. The machine quilting just turns me off for some reason and I simply just don't 'get' thread painting at all.
I really appreciate the work and time it takes to make the others, but I must be just an old fashioned girl.

Sewobsessed, funny you mentioned hand quilting. That is all I have ever done but the gorgeous machine work I've seen on the board convinced me I need to try it.
I figure I will be able to make many more quilts if I get good at it!! :D:D

I love them all too. But my favorite is Civil War. For some reason I feel connected to the history.

I love the old quilts (actually have several beauties) but I also love SOME of the newer patterns & fabrics - love the way they "pop" w/color & design. (some are too contemporary for me thou).

BUT......any quilt is a work of art, hopefully someone put a lot of love into.

Have a blessed day - may all your quilts be filled w/love

I love old quilts. I have some my grandmother made. To me a quilt is comfort, warmth, security, and give me a loving feeling like a long tender hug. That's why I love the old traditional patterns and scrappy fabrics. I want a quilt to cuddle under... I'll save the beautiful art stuff for my wall, not my couch or bed.

I like the old traditional patterns and to look at the new artistic creations. The only thing I REALLY DO NOT LIKE is quilts that are quilted to within a square inch of their life. They could stand up in the corner. It takes away from the designs and the cuddleleness. (Is that a word?)

I do both. In some cases what was old is new again. I think bargellos are a new take on the old "Trip Around the World".
The weathervane block, with 3 colors can look like a flower.
