Stop this right now! I just moved from upstate to NYC and would move back in a heart beat. This will be my first year in a long time with no smell of apples in the air (I don't even want to identify what is the smell in the air here). No fresh picked apples right at the orchard and no experimental donuts depending on which fruit is ready first. I may have to find any excuse to go to Plattsburgh soon.

I too am a former upstate NYer. Been in the southwest for 30 years now, and I still miss the change of seasons, fall being my second favorite, with the color change and the fall produce.

Now you're all making me homesick for New York. I may live in Georgia now and I do love it here but there really is nowhere as fabulous as New York!

Nice to hear from you girls from up north. We here in Texas are right now praying for rain! We've had at least 10 days of 100 degree days. Haven't had rain in a long time. So when fall does arrive it will be so wonderful to have cooler days, where I can sit on my patio in early AM & late PM to read. I really get into the sewing mood when it is cooler. Thank God for the different seasons. He is still in control, tho.

I live in Pa. just 15 miles south of Binghamton NY and have to agree, this rainy cool crisp weather is a welcome relief from the heat and humidity. fall is the best time of year.

I was just down in your area in May for a wedding. We went through Binghamton and kept going. I think the resort was near Honesdale?

Jodie-He really does control all! :D We actually woke up to sunlight. :/ Not sure if this is a good thing though. I'm hoping that the sunlight doesn't heat up the early morning crisp air too much. It's perfect right now. I've already made my girls some skillet apples in custard and waiting to go apple picking to stock the freezer. Nothing like apple pies all winter to get you through the snow!

Oh are you making me jealous. I grew up in NJ and know exactly what kind of a day you are talking about. I now live on the SE coast of NC - rain here is not the same!

We moved from upstate to TX ten years ago. What I miss the most is the farmstands in the fall, and NY State wines. I haven't had wine that tastes like NY wine since leaving. I'd give my left arm for some rain right now. We've been in the 100's for a few days and haven't seen rain in well over a month. But do I want to go back to NY? Not on your life.

I grew up in Utica too. I lived on Steuben St and went to Kernan School. What a small world.
