Sooo this may show my new-ness to the quilting world, but how do you acquire so many UFOs or WIPs? When I decide to make a quilt, I list it in Phases.

    Phase I - design
Phase II - purchasing or choosing (from my stash) fabric
*Phase III - cutting out the pieces
*Phase IV - assembling the top
Phase V - preparing for quilting
    Phase VI - QUILTING!

*Phase III & IV can interchange

Getting to Phase II is easy but once I have begun to cut out pieces, my OCD tends to set in and I can't really start another until I finish that one. At most I can only handle two projects at once. Maybe as I quilt more, this will change :-)

I'm the same way, once I start a quilt I can't stop until it's done. I've been known to put in many 8 hour days until my fingers are sore & bleeding but I can't stop. I usually pick out the fabric first & then the design tho.

Some quilts you dont have the luxary to work on until they are done, like for instance right now I am working on 3 block of the month quilts so I have to have some stuff to do in between those times.

My mom is the same way! She is hand quilting an Irish Chain quilt she is making right now and she called the other day to catch up and was telling me how sore her fingers are from quilting because it has been so long since she has done it!

Tie it with some pretty baby yarn and go ahead and give it to her. She'll be able to use it with her baby dolls.

I agree. I'm in three BOM's and one stash buster group but I have to have things to do in between. Also, we keep the upstairs thermostat set on 50 degrees in the winter so I can't use my quilting machine. Spring and Fall are when I get to quilt. I can build up a lot of Ladies in Waiting in the mean time.

That's so true, I have not done any of those. *Some* day I will do a Balitmore quilt & that won't be a quick to finish one either.
