I never thought of that before! Wonderful suggestion...really have to watch out for whoever man's the rope...too many viewings of wiped out "helpers" on America's Funniest Video. We do want SAFE fun around here!

    :D
We use a very long rope so the man at the rope is far off. We also tell the batter to stop when we say, immediately, just in case of emergencies which we haven't had, and then they also don't swing while you go to un-blindfold them.
THANKS for the safety regs - which I did NOT know - and make this an extremely helpful suggestion. I have noticed pinatas before in stores in town, but will do some calling around. Don't actually recall WHERE off the top of my head. Will call Walmart first, as I believe you had mentioned that as a possible source. GREAT IDEA! THANK YOU!

Woolaroc is an option too, if you are willing to drive that far. It sounds like you have tons of great grandma stuff lined up. Have a ball!

WOOLAROC! Of course! I forget things...I love that place! I tried to get the kids to Tulsa last year for the Gilcrease and Philbrook, but they did not exactly run over with joy over the OKC Museum of Art downtown. I always tell them about The Little Sheperd Girl at Philbrook, how she has never aged since I feel in love with that painting way, way back in Jr. High...and 53 now...and try to get them to find a fav...to revisit thru the years. What a good idea, they should be about ready for Woolaroc now. OH, this is a good idea! I did email the crew this morning to search online for what they wanted to do here.

Wonderful recipe online for the playdough, printed off years ago. Really easy, and lots cheaper than "store-bought." The six yr old will certainly be provided this little item!
I do take them to whatever the Library provides that week. Last year (if I recall correctly) they had musicians provide a huge variety of precusion instruments...and worked with all the kids on drums skills. Fun stuff. They were here when the OK History Museum (directly east of State Capitol) was holding the Centennial event...fine broad selections from every people group here at State's beginning. Kids discovered latin dance, and took to it! We were so happy to see them trying out all new things...from corn husk dolls to latin dance and everything in between...irish folk music ended the day. Wish it had not been a one time event there!

When the grandkids stay with us they LOVE to make breakfast! Pancakes, O.J., scrambled eggs and bacon! Yum-yum! They also love picnics! They think eating outside on a blanket, out of an ice chest is a real treat. Speaking of treats, make some home made ice cream too!!

Kids that age love arts and crafts! Do you have a Michaels or a Joanne's close by? They have lots of kit, under 5 bucks that make up to 15 different things.
Just remember to smile and have fun, someday soon, they will rather hang out with their friends than you. . . .

Yes, I know they will be too busy for grandparents very SOON...we experience this when we visit them at their house already! ; - D Homemade ic will help!
That's OK...I was the same way at their age...But oldest will have some kind of part-time job by next year I'd imagine (oldest one, or more) so want to be sure this is something special for him, and all of them.
I LOVE YOUR POSTED ART WORK!! LOL! I look exactly like that when we go to the lake, they just endure me!

The older kids might enjoy some family tree research & everyone can help make a booklet. Ancestry.com, etc.
