I really like your quilt. However, the pink sashing does retire because the smaller but darker cornerstones dominate. It is an opportunity to do something special in those pink areas that seem to retire. I am always impressed when each segment of a retiring element is given a special treatment in the quilting. It is an opportunity to use special thread such as heavier weight. Perhaps use stencil designs and treat each section independently. I would use a big design in the dark border but perhaps in black so it is elegant but understated.

It's a pretty quilt, just needs a little pop. I would remove both borders, replace the narrower one w/a darker pink, then replace your floral border. It's some work, but it will be worth it. I've done it before, not a lot of fun, but doable. It was worth it when I did it (twice).

I have some of that dark fabric. I don't think your quilt is ugly.

Ugly, I don't think so. It is missing that "pop" factor though. Very pretty quilt, just not eye popping because of the pale pink, I think. Maybe changing the border just might do it, if you're up to it. Definitely not ugly though.

I agree with the consensus... this is NOT an ugly quilt at all! But I think I see two things that might be bugging you. First: a previous poster thought the sashing was too wide for the blocks, and I think she might be right. The second issue, I think, is that the dark border is overwhelming the lovely pink blocks. It may be that another border of the darker pink will "finish" this and make you happier. I also suspect that the dark border needs to be narrower, so the pink will shine. Maybe narrow it up so that it and the light pink border together are as wide as the sashing, then add the final pink border. I think that would solve both problems. But really, it's a lovely quilt as it is.

As for the quilting... I'm not going to be any help at all. Sorry. But do show us what she looks like finished!
