Never too hot for quilting but crocheting...for me that yarn is too hot on my lap. I hand quilt too so it's on the rack or hoop. I would probably be grumpy if I coudln't quilt. sewwwwww.....a quilting we all go.

I do make quilts in summer but I stick to smaller ones like charity quilts. I also crochet but during the summer I put it away until fall. I don't like how the yarn feels in my hand in the warm weather and also who wants an afghan on your lap when crocheting it in the hotter months.

Ditto! And I'm from Wisconsin too!
Iowa is right next door and summer is short here too but I piece my tops in the summer and quilt them in the winter.

In the summertime I embroider blocks to be used in the fall for my quilts, table runners and placemats. Something simple in redwork. Also, summer is a good time to make a few hexagons for GFG. Gives you a good head start for a quilt in the fall.

Like many, my studio is in the basement so it's nice and cool down there. In fact, it's more comfortable in summer than winter because it's too cool in the winter. I'm going to have to put a small heater in there, I think. My son assures me that when the basement remodel is done it will be warmer. I hope so.
However, I do more yard work in summer, too, so am outside more than in winter. I'm not sure we're going to have a summer here in Seattle this year, though. It's cloudy and 62 out there right now, but breezy. It is dry, though, so I should be weeding the garden instead of reading email. I did just do a few stitches of hand quilting a few minutes ago, though. Does that count?
Can't do much in the studio these days because my son is remodeling the other part of the basement. I am going to try to move some stuff around in there, though, to uncover my cutting table and machine so I can work on a toddler quilt some more. I really need to get that thing done!!!

Once upon a time, I would piece in the summer and quilt in the winter. Now, I just sit under the air conditioner vent and keep on trucking!!
