I'm rubbish. My friend always objects to my choice which after she changes it I don't like. My friend loves very bright colours which to me clash. I love pastels in colour blends ie blue or green red or orange but not mixed together. .
This maybe a double post as I wrote it 5 hours ago. Now can't find it.

I definitely agree with Jeanne S. Everyone always tells me I am very good at color coordination but I know that I lack the ability to piece and quilt as well as with completing the project. I guess I just have to try to go with the abilities I have been given.

I like my color choices most of the time, but I often look at other's choices and wonder "what were they thinking?" because it really is a matter of what you like and not just technical skill in matching colors.
Sometimes after I wonder what they were thinking, or after I "hate" my choices I find the completed project totally changes my mind! This might take hiding it for a year.

I think I do pretty good with color choices. I tend to audition my picks on my design wall and can tell if I don't like something, but sometimes I second guess myself. I have found that once it is all sewn together, it usually comes together visually.

Jeanne, you're gifted! I've seen some of your work and complimented you on a work in progress. I wish I had a good sense of color, the values and all. I've been shown in a workshop, but as a few things with me, I am challenged to "get it" yet. Jeanne, a straight quarter inch seam is a straight quarter inch seam...there's no more to it. Joining the blocks takes some practice...no more to that one, either. Quilting= practice. Ah, but the color thing...now that's a challenge to so many people. It's not something you can check by using a ruler to make sure it's accurate. The quilting...if you make a goof, that's what seam rippers are for. But the color thing.....it's one of those areas that can't be measured for accuracy, or ripped out to start over. You are blessed to understand colors. Bravo!

I like vibrant colors that are not muted. But I like them to play nicely with each other. I have a difficult time when others give me color ranges because I feel constricted/fenced in by them and what they perceive that color to be in their minds. My quilt police neighbor never likes my color choices but says I am a wonderful quilter. She says I use too many colors!! I don't get her. My kitties think I use great colors and fabrics. I do admit when I'm stuck I will ask DH for some color help because he has a pretty good color sense.
