My son is much better, but he will always have certain stomach issues. He also must eat more to maintain his weight and such. (He is not like his mom..just look at food and poof comes the pounds ha ha ha) His last surgery was when he was 8 years old, and he is now 24. Like his doctors say..he will have to face surgery in the future..but the longer between, the better.

I am so glad that you finally got what was coming to you. I know what you have gone through. My daughter went through three failed transplants and was put on dialysis before she was given disability. We had to hire an attorney and he took $5000 of her benefits since it was a four year battle. I know she would have given up if I hadn't helped her. Every time she was turned down it was like a slap in the face. It took so much out of her and the whole family. In the end they flea bargained and said if she would settle for less, they would put her claim through, if not they didn't know how long it would take. I guess you can't fight city hall.

I completely agree that the process is a total nightmare. Courts are backlogged with cases and it feels like forever to get an answer. Glad your husband was approved. Spend wisely, but go for a celebration. YOu've waited long enough. Hope now there is some relief and pleasure for future years.

You don't really get that life can turn on a dime until it happens to you. In 2005 my husband fell down a flight of stairs sleepwalking which he had not ever done in our long married life. Because he went head first and was stopped by the wall he suffered some brain damage. Life as we had known it and the future as we planned it, became a sweet memory. We were a 2 income budget, suddenly down to 1. I took on extra work, responsibility and it seemed like the weight of the world. It took 2 1/2yrs to get perm. dis. God walked us through those dark & sad times, holding our hands and guiding us each step, each day, still does.
May God bless you abundantly.

I've been on the other side of that fence, having worked 29 years for SSA. The process takes so long because of the large volume of claims. The state agencies who make the disability decisions have to get medical reports in order to make their decisions, which can take a long time in some cases. If the claim is denied, you then can go through the first appeal. If that appeal is denied, it has to go to a hearing before an administrative law judge. A certain president, whom I will not name, recently spent 8 years trying to dismantle the Federal government by not filling judicial positions opened up because of retirement or other reasons. There is a drastic shortage of administrative law judges. Please believe me the employees of SSA really try
to help people. Remember, they are working within the constraints of Federal regulations and laws made by Congress. There's no excuse for any SSA employee being rude and if that happens a strong, and I mean strong, complaint should be reported to the office manager and your congressman!

I ask for all of your prayers tonight. I have a brother in the Cincinnati area that we are very close. He is dying of Cancer he may not live through the night. I live 3 hrs from him. He wants to see & talk with me. I don,t know how I am going to do this, but I plan to go see him tomorrow. He was the chain that held my whole family together. There are no words to express how much I will miss him.
Thanks to all.
Thanks to all.
