I love my ergonomic Olfa also! It's great for arthritic hands. I agree with the others -- problem might be the blade needs changing.

Have tried all different cutters and love-love-love my Olfas. Do have a Martelli cutter and large cutting matt. Change my blades often but have found using the Martelli cutting matt my blades stay sharper much longer. The boards are not cheap but have been using mine at least 3 or 4 years and no grooves in it, I do cut something every day.

I've tried all the rest and have settled for the best...Gingher, they are the best. They make excellent scissors as well. A pricey rotary cutter, but there is no comparison to anything else. They are expensive, but worth every penny.

I have one of the Martelli ergonomic ones and love it. Seems so much easier on my wrist when I use it. :lol:

I bought Fiskars when I started quilting. Love them, wouldn't trade them. Am not comfortable with Olfa. ♥

Martelli cutter is the best I have ever found. They have a handle that curves and fits into the palm of your hand. The pointer finger rests on top of the blade area so makes cutting very strain free. I've probably tried them all and always had a sore wrist when cutting for any length of time.
For replacement blades, go to Harbor Freight and order carpet cutter replacement blades. 2 for approx $1.99 They fit the cutter and seem to last way longer than the regular cutter blades. Hope this helps.

Two of my quilting friends...who don't know each other...both bought the Martelli recently and absolutely love it. I use a Fiskars but after a recent lengthy cutting session, I'm thinking of the Martelli!

Kai cutters retract automatically and so are safer, in my opinion.They cut well and the blades last a long time.I have a Martelli which is easy to use sitting down and they make left handed versions as well.However, the blade does not retract.

I have a martelli rotary cutter, handle is on the side, is much easier on the hands, carperl tunnel, takes a little getting used to but like it very much. And a dull blade will ruin your cutting mats. Found out the hard way.
