Before I moved, I had a "den" that I used for sewing and piecing, and a "spare bedroom" that had my mid-arm in it.
I had a small design wall in the den about a good lap size, and a large one in the quilter room about California King size.

The king size one was the very first thing I made on my NewJoy/Brother 1500S system when I got it, and was a real 3-layer/batting quilt. It was Flannel on both sides, in a "doggy paw print" with 2" grid lines already printed on it! How useful is that. Made easy to get everything straight. And had long strips of lathing in top and bottom to keep it really square and flat.

The smaller one was also a real quilt, out of plain muslin/batting, and hung of course in a smaller space.

I don't have space for either of them here, but I still have them. When I was using them, it was fabulous.

It will be again!

Right now I have two cup hooks on the header of my sewing room's closet doors (only one door opens to the closet; the other is closed off for our furnace) from which I have hung a white flannel sheet. After reading this thread and looking at my closet's frame I think I'm going to get a spring tension rod and hang that sheet from it - thanks, I really like that idea. My husband asked me the other day "Honey, how am I supposed to get in the closet? (its where we keep our overcoats) so I had to show him - silly guy!

I made one out of a large stretch canvas, wrapped with batting that I did not like after I opened it. I stretched it on the frame of the canvas and stapled it on the back. It's so light weight that I can move it where ever I need it. Love it.

I love mine; couldn't do w/o it. I have a 4x8 sound board with batting and flannel on it. I always have something on it. I just about have all of my blocks done for OBW and can't wait to start playing!

OBW = One Block Wonder, it's a technique using one fabric to create a quilt of kaleidoscopes by stacking the fabric into identical repeats and cutting the layers together. From the book of the same name by Maxine Rosenthal. Many ppl here on the board have made them, check out all the related topics together in the Virtual Section here http://www.quiltingboard.com/virtual...jsp?vsnum=1006

Yes I have one - it is a folded cutting and pattern cardboard that I got at Joanne's I covered it with flannel and use it and when done Just fold it up and store it in the closet or if I have to use it for pattern cutting - just take off the flannel. it is great/
