The real problem is they didn't use enough stabilizer, and being a shop they should have known better. That is the first thing we are told. With that said.....you will never be happy with the results in trying to quilt it out. You have an option of taking it back and telling them to fix it...word to the wise...that's your project and they will not be as careful as you.
Go back and talk with the shop and get a feel for what they will do to make it right. You can decide then if you want them to work on it again or just rip it out yourself.
Sorry this happened to you and good luck. Let's us know what happens.

I agree. They need to know they made a mistake and take care of it.

I am so sorry for you, you must be so frustrated.

All I can recommend is take a deep breath before you go in the store and be as nice to them as you possibly can. They will be more than willing to help you, however if you went in irate, yelling and screaming you might just be escorted out the door!

I agree with those who said the piece wasn't stabilized correctly. Also the thread count was to high. Ask if the person used a topper , they help keep the stitches on top of the fabric. What size is the piece? I have the fabric you used, I could try to do it for you.

I would take it back promptly and ask for a refund of not only the money you gave them but also the cost of materials and time you put into the work YOU did.

did they not use any stablelizer on the back to keep it from puckering? I'd take it back and let them redo or at least rip out what they had done, that's a job in itself. I know I do my own embroidery and I hate to rip out.

Oh, that's too bad. I think I would do what some of the other members suggested, and go back to the person that did it. Good luck!!

I have not read all the posts , but as someone who has been doing machine emb. fgr 17 yrs. I would make them take out the stitches...it can take a long time to do it. Ask to see it after the stitching is taken out to determine if there has been any damage to your quilt. Be sure to press before they stitch it again. You may want to choose applique letters instead. If not they can enlarge it slightly to cover up any needle marks. As someone else said it doesn't look like they use a stabilizer or possibly no underlay stitching. I hope you get satisfaction. fmd36 in NH

Yes i agree with the stippling as I do embroidery on different things and you do get some puckering but not that bad. feel sorry for you. I would stipple the top with monofiliment thread. it will take out most of the puckering, but try to get as close to the lettering as possible.

A dull needle will also cause puckering BUT all this is hindsight. Get them to pull it out and get your money back. Please let us know how you make out...that is what is important.Looks like many options have been suggested. The applique letters might be your best bet.
