QE-your DJ blocks are looking great!
Mirabelle--pretty purples in your mini blocks I have the files saved for these, but haven't printed them yet. I need to get at least 3 other quilts finished before I start something new. No sewing this week for sure. Not sure how next will turn out.
Quilter65--We didn't get 6" Sunday night...I don't think the rain gauge was emptied after rain Saturday, but Monday morning we had 5". It came down hard...less than a couple hours. Monday's first round of storms/tornadoes went through fast around 3pm...less than 1hr. Then it rained pretty hard again for a while around 7:00.
We don't have the tree all the way off the house yet. DH had to work all day yesterday (even went in two hours early) so today will be the day we can see all the damage. We know there are some holes in the roof, possibly 1-2 rafters cracked and for sure plywood and shingles that will need to be replaced. The ceiling in the house where the tree fell is cracked in one place with water damage and there is another place where the tree came through to the inside. It's going to be a busy weekend.

Carrie, what other damage was there besides the MIL's house? It will take awhile for her home to be fixed up...will insurance kick in and help with the repairs and maybe hire some workers to help with the fixing up? One day at a time...is she still living in the home?
Mirabelle, love the purples in the QOTS blocks.
Guess I missed the DJ blocks, QuiltE, but good for you. Mine is at a stand still not going anywhere, as is Sylvia, and the fifty stars. See what happens on Monday when I see the eye specialist again. Quilt buddy is taking me this time...as Susan is still recovering from surgery. Off the steroids, now off with some weight....one step at a time.

QNS--There are several houses with trees on them, lots of power lines/poles down, barns with no roof, etc, etc. It's very sad. We drove by one place yesterday and their camper was in hundreds of pieces in their yard. If you didn't know it was a camper before, you would have to look close as driving by to figure it out. It's pretty bad around here. One of the ladies I work with at the hotel said her brother's house had been moved off the foundation.
Insurance will help with the repairs and once the tree is removed we will have someone come in and give us an estimate to get things fixed. She is still able to be living in the home.

Gpod luck with all the repairs, Carrie. May you enjoy today with the fourth of July and celebrate a bit, too. It could have been worse than structural damage. Happy Fourth of July everyone. May it be a good one for you.... Internationally so. Give your loved ones an extra hug!:wav e:
