That's crazy money. Pretty color though. Morse and Atlas had some of the best colors of the time IMO. I can live with a more boring color for the $475 difference.

It could be a needle case but it appears to be closer in shape to what is a 'vesta' also known as a 'match safe' to keep wooden matches - here are other examples
