Looks to me there is wiring inside and a bulb stuck on top, in the oil hole? IOW - usable again if one is so inclined?

I like that one too - might be a nice challenge for someone with ambition -- and time on their hands. :-)

I do love fiddle base sewing machines, and, oddly, the plainer ones with lots of wear (history).

The fiddlebase is nice. So is the New Goodrich. The lamps are just sad and they aren't as common as your average Singers either. I really hope the Franklin isn't the Scarab pattern. I like that pattern.
You might be able to salvage the machines but it's likely the spool pin holes were drilled out to accept the lamp hardware. That damage will always be there but may not be too noticeable.
There are ways to display a sewing machine as a lamp without damaging it. Put the machine on a nice wooden base with the lamp post hidden behind it. The machine can be made to function again later if the owner chooses. A lamp shade would be nice too. Those old style bulbs look cool when they're off but I still wouldn't want them shining in my eyes.

It looks like a 77 to me. They're full size machines. The proportions make them look smaller. I bought one thinking it was 3/4 size from pictures. Joe told me otherwise but I wanted to see for myself. If you find one with MG in the model number, those ones have a magnesium body. White made a Domestic model 153 that's similar except the thread path and top tension are different.
The library steps aren't bad either.
