Trying to clean out the garage and getting rid of excess stuff, my husband and I came across a couple of coolers that we no longer need or use. I want to give them to the local Ronald McDonald house sale but they have our name on them with permanent marker. Anyone have an idea on how to get rid of the names?

You might try sanding them with a fine sandpaper since they are on thick plastic. Not sure if it will work, but that's what popped into my head right away :-)

I have used nail polish to remove markings on plastic tubs althoigh they were smooth. If the coolers have a rough finish perhaps with a tooth bruch. Good luck!

If all else fails maybe you could black them out with another permanent marker.

Try alcohol based hand sanitizer. I have found it can work wonders getting off permanent marker.

At schools they use a product called Goo Gone. It takes marker, paint, sticky substances, labels and most anything you can think of off a surface. I use it all the time around my house.

We have had luck with lighter fluid or alcohol--both worked well to remove markings

I've removed it from clothing with 409 & a toothbrush scrub. On a plastic surface, I would try soft scrub.

There is a Krylon paint for plastics. I would just paint over it.
