Here is a start on my candy quilt.

This will use 1600 candies - here they are sorted out by color/shade

I did the layout and printed it out and then marked colors - I don't have a color printer at home.

Started laying them out on the design wall. I have to pin, and this is as much as I can do with the pins I have.

Started sewing them and decided that using the "grid" method would work great to keep the candies in the correct order.

Then you fold the rows and sew the long seams.

And the first section done. There will be 12 sections - 3 each quarter.

I've got the second section done too - I think the sewing goes faster than the layout.

It is tomorrow and I am up to my neck learning new quilting skills, I will wait on opening my envelopes until "my" day arrives. I am busy leaning to do hand patching and then hand quilting for a February wedding quilt. I am sure it will take me that long to finish it.

Macybaby, your technique is called webbing and it works so when when you want to keep lots of little pieces in order. I learned it at one of my quilt guild meetings a while back and then saw another gal using it on a Bonnie Hunter quilt with all of those little bitty pieces. I often use it when chain piecing lots of pieces that are duplicates of each other. A good time saver. Looking forward to the progress you make on your candy quilt.
