I'm trying to cut out 3" squares, but my ruler keeps sliding around. Are there any tricks to avoid this?

Thanks

Invisigrip from Omnigrid works great.
Also push straight down on your ruler... if you push from an angle it will slide
Cut 6-8" and then carefully walk your fingers further down the ruler and cut again... :D:D:D

I use double sided tape. I run the tape along my clothes or bed, whatever to reduce a little of the stickiness. Also little squares of sandpaper glued to the back side of the ruler helps too.

What size ruler are you trying to use? I find that I use my square rulers a lot when cutting smaller pieces. Invisigrip is good and I also use the tiny little sandpaper dots that are self adhesive from Lowe's or Home Depot. I also have the Gypsy handles that go on the rulers and I really like those. They give a lot of control.

The small sandpaper circles (about 1/4 inch across) help minimize slipping a lot.

Use a ruler the right size for the job if you've got one around. Also if you happen to have anything like Glad Press 'n Seal in the cupboard it works great in a pinch as a stand in for Invisigrip. Medium weight clear tablecloth plastic will also do the trick. If you need an instant fast fix, a little white glue with some salt or sugar will work and it's easy to clean off. Anything you can invent that will make the ruler a little bit sticky........

Do you have any flexible, clear surgical tape? A piece or two of that on the back side helps with slipping. It's removable too. I use the Nexcare 3M brand which you can get in the first aid aisle.
