I am new to Quilt Board. Thank you so much for the mock pineapple block instructions. I have always steered away from pineapple blocks because they look like a lot of work and very complex. I will definitely try your method.

This would be a nice project with a picture in the center and then framed. Thanks for the pdf file

I found this on line. It is the basically the same thing just without the corner triangles. It was on a Simplicity free pattern site. I did edit it a bit taking out references for the ruler it is meant to sell. I don't think you need the ruler as any square ruler would do. I think it would make a nice addition to a quickie, no fuss, pineapple block reference.

I can see what you mean. It would be nice. I also thought you could quilt it, and then cut the center out with enough left over to wrap around an opening in a cardboard frame for a cute quilted picture frame, or maybe for featuring a photo on a quilted photo album cover. Also you could incorporate a open ended piece of clear vinyl into the center square so a photo could be dropped in or changed as often as you liked. It would make a good tote for new grandma so she could feature the baby.

I've never been much for pineapple blocks as they seem steppy and waste fabric, but this one sheds a whole new light on the block. Thanks, and will give this a try for sure.

Neat quilt block. Have been trimming scraps and have a bag of 5" and 4" blocks.
