The best I could come up with would be 20 strips:
20 x 40" = 800"
double once: 400" x 4.5"
double twice: 200" x 8.5"
double three times: 100" x 16.5
last time: approx. 50" x 32.5
Plus what ever size borders you want.
OR
18 strips:
18 x 40" = 720"
double once: 360" x 4.5"
double twice: 180" x 8.5"
double three times: 90" x 16.5"
last time: approx 45" x 32.5"
Plus borders.
Should work great!

Gone nuts the last few days buying bali pops and 1/4 yards from bolts. Our last kid moved out a month ago, might have to convert that bedroom into a sewing room. Stripping the cabinet for my new vintage machine. Almost done, ready for finish color and wax.

Cut strips for the baby quilt. I cut them 2" , ended up with 4 strips each out of the 10 different fabrics. Now that I have them cut wondering if there is going to be too much white in it. The baby's nursery is done in brown and green monkeys that she bought which she added touches of pink too since she's having a girl.
I plan on piecing the strips together till there's enough to cut blocks, then turning every other one. There's one like that in this thread that is beautiful.
Used a new cutting ruler that I added little thin cork pads too, they worked even nicer than the sand dots to keep your cutting edge from shifting. Probably cheaper too since they're from the hardware store.
Oh, thinking I would start with the dark strip on the right and sew these together in the order shown in the picture. Do you think it needs more dark or colored fabric if I add a darker small border with a lighter gingham check large border to finish? My first one so a bit nervous here, lol. Thanks, Karen

This is what I was wanting to do, scroll down the thread to see the picture. Won't have to cut off half of the first strip then...right?

First time using my new vintage 66, WOW! Once I got the tension right what a beautiful stitch! I'm stoked that I found this at goodwill. Still need to get a manual but is my 5th machine, 2nd vintage one and have a featherweight manual for attachments.
