I got quite a few of the sashings sewn on yesterday and I love the little babies. Lesley, I was wondereing..can I just lay the block out and measure 1/2" from the seam line (between the block and sashing) and trim the batting 1/2" from the sewing line on each side, then sew the blocks together? Does that make sense? And if I am planning a stitch down the center of the sashing...I really don't need to sew the batting together- do I..or do I??
Hmm, I think that would work Patti but that last bit might not - because with one line of stitching down the centre of your sashing, you are not likely to be able to catch both sides of the batting at the back. That's why I did two rows of quilting in my sashing.

OK...here is what I have done so far...I've sewn the sashing to the right side, sashing and cornerstones to the bottom/top where appropriate. I still have 2 rows to do yet to finish what I have quilted so far..then I'll just try to keep up as I get them quilted.

Thanks Lesley, you would be right it I just sew a straight line down the center of the sashing, but I was thinking maybe a wider decorative stitch of some kind?? You know I'm only thinking through my fingers though...I might just SITD and sew the batting together from the back.

But here you can see how I'm progressing. My stitches are way too big, but doing it without a hoop tends to make mine that way. I like lots of quilting and I see that there are a few that I'll go back and add a bit more to them.

Anyway...here ya' go! I can't wait to get those holes filled in!

The holes are blocks not quilted yet

Patti, your blocks look awesome! You must be at least a third of the way on the blocks...

I'm actually a few over the half way mark on the square blocks Meredith...so yes, its going fairly well. I try to do several each night and they add up pretty quickly. I think they are really looking good and I'm soo excited! (and thankful that even the bad ones are looking ok...whew!)

I like your colors and sashing, Sandpat.

I'm keeping the original's around the world trip but moving some triangles around. Saving the kites for last in case there are any fallen RIPs.

Paper piecing is really a godsend to anyone with bad eyes. Black and white. Nice contrast.

Patti, Your Chocolate Jane is very pretty!!! I understand how excited you are feeling, as I have three rows sewn together. I feel the same, it is looking so good! Its feels so easy and FAST sewing the sashing and cornerstones and the blocks together, it just seems to fly, where before a single difficult block would take longer than sewing a whole row together, so it seems!!! I have reworked one block and altered one so far, but I have moved around a few of my blocks, so I am not in Jane's order...
