Hancocks of Paducha has lots of batick on sale for $5 to $6 a yard. You do have to buy a yard of each choice. Try fat quarters or fat 8ths from Connecting threads. Have fun shopping.
Trish, the minimum quantity at Hancocks of P is half a yard - but for this quilt, you wouldn't need that really, so fat quarters or eighths would give you more choices for your cash.

Try Batiks.com or batiksgalore.com...they both have lots! I love the batiks that change color from side to side...it seems to me that you get lots more variation for your money.

Speaking of batiks, I got this yesterday from Favorite Fabrics. The picture doesn't do it justice, it is gorgeous! Sure hope I can find some place in this quilt for some of it.

Roxanne posted a thread here on the board that gives a link for appliqueing a heart shape that you all might find useful:

    http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-103014-1.htm

I don't use a straw needle, as I find them too long for me, I use a quilting (no 11) needle, and I still manage to bend them. Also, I use a regular machine thread in the needle, but you will all find what will work best for you - at least it will be nice for you to watch a video, rather than trying to follow my pics.

Lesley, I saw an ad for thread at Connecting Threads but it was a lot of thread on the spools. What weight of thread do you use and how many different colors do you think we will need?

    Warning! International lurker here!

I have just spent the last two evenings reading this thread from page 1 and trying to convince myself that I am not going to join in. ;-)

But if that was true I suppose I wouldn't be posting a comment, would I?
