Just the other day my DD rescued a cat from underneath our bushes out front...My dog was extremely curious as to what was in there. Turns out it was a neighbors cat and she was happily returned.

Never lost my cat, but I'd be devastated if he'd ever disappear. Good luck, hope he finds his way back soon.

My husband came in one morning to tell me our cat had been run over about a mile from our house. We were shocked, because she NEVER strayed from the house. We drove by her twice, and decided it definitely was our cat. My husband had just had back surgery, so I called our son next door and told him I needed a favor. "Sure thing," he replied. I explained about the cat and that I couldn't bear to just leave her in the road. So, he took a shovel, scooped her up, and provided a decent burial. Another son came by about an hour later. I told him we were sad because the cat had been run over. "Mama." he replied, "your cat is just outside the door." I have no idea whose, but somebody's cat got a decent burial.

We lost our Cat Cleo in a RV Park she was gone for 3 months
the people in the Park kept feeding her but couldn't catch, we kept going back trying to find her, one day while we were there we heard meowing and there was cleo in the woods looking at us, (she really shy) we ran over to the RV got her carrier took it close to her,she came right down and got in,she was so glad to be home never had tried to get out after that

A few years ago, my indoor cat with no front claws, got outside. We tried to find her. This was in the winter time. The next morning we had a real cold spell, 30 below, didn't get above zero for a week. I put adds in the paper ect but no kitty. Well after a week, I was sure she was dead. The next day it got above zero and the sun was shinning. I came home from work, and there was my baby sitting on our front steps. She headed right to the water dish and drank and drank, ate a little. Didn't look like she had lost weight. I asked her where she had been, but she never did tell me. She is now happily playing in kitty heaven.

When you go out looking for your kitty, DO NOT yell. You will frighten her if she is not used to hearing you yell. Just walk around talking to her. Cats have exceptional hearing, and she will be able to follow your voice. Think about it, when does your cat hear you yell? When something is wrong! Just keep talking as if she is right near you, and if you are lucky, you may find her right away! You could also walk around shaking the cat food box, or the cat treat container.

Because my cat is an escape artist, I have taught him that hearing his name twice, means there are goodies for him. Now I just step outside and say "Bruno Bruno" and wait. I never teach my cats to come to 'here kitty kitty' because that is how everyone calls cats, and this is my cat.

Our cat Jerry disappeared the day we got back from vacation....we were very busy unpacking and didn't notice he had gone out. He always cames back when I call him as he is shy and declawed....I stayed up calling him but he never came back that night.....I was heartsick......I posted flyers with his picture and tear off tabs with our phone number in the local Vets office local super market and in in all the business establishments that I could and in the mailboxes down our road I'd trive down the area roads and call out his name....we have a lot of fields around....I never stopped calling him at all different hours of the day and night. I prayed all the while to St.Francis patron of Animals to help him to find his way home and I think that faith kept my driven to not give up.....THEN A MIRACLE .....ONE SUNDAY MORNING ON MY WAY TO CHURCH I DECIDED TO DROP SOME MORE FLYERS IN MAILBOXES AND AS I AM DRIVING DOWN I GLANCE OVER AND THERE HE WAS SITTING IN THE FIELD ACROSS FROM OUR HOUSE.....AFTER 5 WEEKS HE HAD FOUND HIS WAY BACK.....I WAS EXTATIC.....HE HAD LOST A LOT OF WEIGHT ....DON'T GIVE UP ....KEEP CALLING AND I WILL PRAY THAT HE FINDS HIS WAY HOME....LET US KNOW....

When we had a cat and would take him to the lake with us we would let him run, he always came back and about a half a day before we were ready to leave for home we would go outside and rattle his dish and he would come running and so then we would keep him in the house until we left for home, so you might try that.

My girl cat, Belle, is an independent soul, despite the fact that she looks so pretty and cuddly. After I feed her breakfast in the morning she tends to find a spot in the house for a nap. Maybe she'll come visit me in the evening if she's in the mood. (It's not that she's shy, but she's just got her own life going on.)
One night she got out and left our apartment building. I didn't see her at breakfast and just figured she's off doing her own thing. Then I didn't see her in the evening... and I realized she'd been missing since at least the previous night.
I looked, called, and began to hunt the neighborhood, posted signs, stuck flyers in mailboxes, ran from a raccoon I thought was rabid... no cat for about a week.
This was the first week of October 2009. We had a freak snowstorm. My neighbor knocked on my door at 6:30 a.m. and said there was a cat downstairs going nuts. She'd come home! Apparently, she didn't want to deal with the combination of wet and cold. My first words to her were "Where ya been, stupid?" as she bolted up the stairs to me.
I was so glad to see her, but she didn't look dirty and wasn't hungry. I noticed she was thirsty and tired (we curled up and took a long nap together)--I'm not sure where she was hiding, but I think she was probably raiding the cat food left out by the neighborhood cat lady.
Her friend Flower and I really missed her. She is the salsa in our taco of a family!
