My main sewing machine is a Viking Quilt Designer, this is my go to machine. For classes and a back up for piecing I use a Featherweight and if everything else fails me I use a Singer 401.

I have a Pfaff 7550 and a Pfaff 2144. Love both machines.

I sew on a Pfaff 7510. I also just got a Featherweight, so will be trying her out! :)

I have a Janome 6600P. I have quilted full size quilts under it with no problem. I did stitch in the ditch. On a large lap quilt I echo quilted it and satin stitched around the pansies. I used the even feed foot with no problems. I like it for garment sewing and for piecing quilts. It runs quietly and I have had it over 3-4 years and never had a problem with it. It has never been in the shop.

I don't have either so I don't have any advice but had to comment on your little Westi. He/she is adorable! I have one too so your pup really caught my attention.

She is the best, I totally adore this dog. She is so spoiled, but thats ok, my kids are grown, and she is my best bud. Her name is Sugarbear, I thought it fit her so well. She has the greatest personality, and makes me laugh alot.

For piecing and garment making I LOVE my Featherweight. It makes a perfect straight stitch.

Obviously for quilting you will want something with at larger throat, but for day in, day out use in piecing and regular sewing I don't think there's a machine out there to beat the Featherweight.
