Thanks so much for sharing this. Looks like it'll take most of the anxiety out of losing tips.

Yes, this link starts out with fussy cutting but later in the video Donna shows how she makes the flying geese using her method. Just watch the whole tutorial or skip through the fussy cutting part & get to Donna. She will show you how she does it.

There is pattern from Terry Atkinson that is for beginners that the points of stars will never be cut off. It's called Stash Stars. I think it is about the same technique. Thanks for posting the video.

The problem with this technique is you end up with "floating" points, which look fine at the star tips, but don't look so nice where the background point meets the star center. You will never have a point meet right at the intersection with this method.
IMHO a much better method, if you consistently are chopping the points off your FG units is use Deb Tucker's "Wing Clipper" ruler/method. Her method/ruler makes all her units slightly oversized and you trim down. Perfect points every time, unless you are inconsistent with your 1/4" seam allowance when joining units.

I would probably not notice the points not meeting the star center but would notice if the points are cut off or not the same. I love the star block with all the points cut off though. It's called Point Taken. LOL

    I love Donna Jordan's tutorials.
