I haven't read all of the answers here but I'm really astonished how many think the same way.
I thought all the quilters, except me, wanted to join bee's and guilds.
I'm not as weird as I always thought I was for wanting to quilt mostly on my own.
Thanks for starting this topic ...m,y eyes are opened now!!!!

I always work alone too. I don't like people interjecting their thoughts about what I am working on. I don't care what others think about my work. I know what mistakes I've made and did not bother to fix.

That may sound antisocial but its not, not really. I didn't like myself for many years but I have now come around and I like who I have become. My love for quilting and sewing has given me a way to give back to others without pushing it off on them. I make quilts, etc to give to others who for whatever reason can not do it for themselves. Its my way of saying thank you for being you.
Oh to have a space like this.

Maybe quilters tend to be more introverted. You can certainly add me to your growing list.

I have never had anyone to quilt with, so I do not know what that experience would be like. I am a self taught quilter and have always done it by myself. I knew how to sew so just "figured it out"....read books, magazines and took a few specialty classes on line. I lose all time when I am quilting.... put on some music or tv when I do not have to do too much thinking about my pattern. I also sing so am glad I am alone!!! I love the quiet "me" time and my family allows this time for myself. It is a life saver in many ways. And I love giving away the quilts I make to family, friends, and some folks not as fortunate as I. May they give their owners love and peace. Oh, I love this quilting board!!!!

no-I am retired and don't want to bother with social scenes-I love the quilt board and enjoy the discussions-I even sometimes chime in.
I have my fur babies-2 dogs and 2 cats-I have my BFF who emails me daily-I have my husband who mainly works from home-and I have my books-kindle/amazon.

    I am a happy camper

I like having a friend come over and sew with me . I do not go to guilds or other classes. I like to get lost in my own little world. Even though this is my style I understand that it is not for everyone..
