Could you please tell me if you are using the 1/4" foot for the Crescendo and if so where to you set the width? If I use this foot and just sew from the middle of the foot - my seam is too wide. I've tried moving needle over to 4.5 and that helps a little - but can't get a scant 1/4" foot.

If I use the general foot - I have to move needle over to 6.50 to get 1/4 seam. Very frustrated with both feet for the illusive 1/4" seam Could you tell me what foot you use and your width setting on your Crescendo?

I use the 1/4" foot and the needle is at 3.5mm (that is the setting the needle automatically goes to when I turn the machine on). I set the laser to 9.5 and that guides the fabric to a perfect 1/4" seam. Hope this helps.

Hi Marsh. I have a Bernina but I run at least 5 layers of painter's quilt so I have an edge to run on. I first take an Omnigrid ruler and place it so that I can lay the painter's tape accurate for a 1/4" seam. Good Luck

use the jfoot for the scant 1/4inch. the 1/4 foot doesn't do scant it just does a normal 1/4 inch but it shouldn't be to wide. I use my 1/4 foot on my dreamweaver with the middle setting. I forget the stitch number for the scant. I would have to look at my machine but I know the jfoot has to be used

I use the 1/4 inch foot on my BL Unity with the width set to 4.5 and it is a perfect scant 1/4 inch. I don't understand why you are having this problem. I would take it in to my dealer for help.

I have the Crescendo and prefer to use the J foot. I set the machine at 6.00 and that makes a scant 1/4" seam.

Thank you for your replies. There isn't a Babylock dealer here in Flag. I'll try the J foot at 6 and 1/4 foot at 4.5 and see if they are the same. Cybrarian - I don't know why I am having this problem either except my pieced blocks never come out right.

I have a Babylock and Brother, and for both, I use the "J" foot, and move the needle to the 5.5 position for a scant 1/4".

something that has helped me determine where the needle is coming dowm in relation to the edge of the presser foot. :

I use an index card that has lines printed at 1/4 inch intervals or 1/4 inch grid graph paper -
Line up the edge of the foot on one of the lines, then sew to see if i need to move the needle.

This is, of course, assuming that I line up my fabric with the edge of the presser foot.
