There are 15 different blocks and anywhere from 2-10 of each block plus 136 1/2triangles. I have 2 blocks (need to make 10 of this block) done. shall we do a sew-a-long? Does anyone have any tips? I quess it is one block at a time!!!!!

I'm not making the quilt, but I sure would like to see it when you're done! You've chosen one that's too ambitious for me!

do all the blocks that are the same and set aside and do all the rest the same. even if there are only two of the same block. then lay them all out in rows to see the total quilt layout, then sew each row together and it will make it much easier.. I have made quilts that has 170 pieces in each block and you do not panic, just do them assembly line style.. you will be great and when you have it finished you will move on to another.. good luck

I love this pattern. It looks fun, though time and labor intensive!

I caved and bought the pattern, I wanted to be able to read it to see if I could make it out of fabrics I had on hand or make it scrappy . The blocks seemed like blocks I could easily do but choosing the colors totally overwhelmed me . needless to say I did not even attempt it .

Tula Pink was on the Quilt Show a few weeks ago- I don't know if you can pay to view just one show. However, she was very interesting and I learned a lot from her approach to color and fabric selection. She focuses more on using color to define rather than lights, mediums, darks. Her butterfly quilt was one she presented in the show and tell they have their guests do before the teaching segments. If you want to check it out, here is the URL: www.thequiltshow.com

I would agree that's a one block at a time type quilt.

I would be happy to be a cheering section for you!

have you seen this blog? She is using part of her blog as a quilt diary about Tula's butterfly pattern, block by block, that might help you. Good luck!
