Thanks for this post. I bought some of these but I've been too chicken to use them. I'm glad to see that at least some of them do wash out.

what ever you choose to use---you should test---every time on each new project- just because something came out of one does not mean it will come out of the next one- test ever marking tool before marking your fabrics to make sure it's going to come out- a little test can sure save some hard lessons.
i've had the blue water erasing markers not come out-
i've had some chalks not come out
i've had washable quilters pencil---not come out
but then again-i've had all of them also work perfectly-
i've had good luck with things my famous quilting pal has had horrible luck with-i've had her favorite marker ruin a quilt of mine---

each project each tool- needs to be tested.

Finishing up the binding now. Will post then. I'll admit I was prepared for a ruined quilt and didn't want to waste my time binding it if it was ruined!! :-D

did you prewash your fabric when you used the markers or that didn't matter?

I pre-wash everything, so I don't know if it mattered or not. Pre-washing was the way I was taught, so old habits are hard to break!

I've used them on probably 5 baby quilts. I usually wash the quilts in the washing machine when finished, and have had no trouble at all with any color coming out. I worry about using darker colors on bright fabric, but I've had no problems at all.
