I NEVER curse when quilting but I pronounce many four-letter words.

I have always followed quilt in a Day by Eleanor Burns and it is easy and quick. I bought her book when it first came out in 1979 and have never regretted purchasing it. Take a deep breath swear if you want and give it another try. Have fun.

I have a few "choice words" for when things go wrong. It's lucky the cats and dogs can't quote me. I, too, have not had the best luck making log cabin blocks. I don't know what it is about them. However, since I last tried one (ages ago), I've seen paper piecing log cabin designs, and if I ever do one again, that will be the way to go. Another option, paper pieced or otherwise, would be to make wonky log cabin blocks. It might not be too late to go that way with the ones you've started, but generally it's best to make them really wonky so that nobody will think you were trying to make them even.

My log cabin blocks are totally scrappy. You can look at a picture of one of them here:

I had a new machine that gave me all kinds of trouble (finally the company replace it). My husband said he hoped none of our grandkids would hear what came out of my sewing room.!!!!

Not only have I cursed while quilting, but I have been known to toss a half finished quilt on the floor and stomp on it.
