I am now a Sewing Machine Tech. I took a class in Temple TX. One of the things I learned is that 20% of needles came from the factory defective. Try changing the needle.

If it's a stretch fabric it requires a ball point needle.

Welcome to the board LJ! if I'm understanding you correctly, if the problem was occurring before and after service both, you should take it back to the facility with samples of what you are getting.

And take some of the fabric with you! Good luck!

Skipping stitches has always been a real problem with stretch fabrics. All of the suggestions are great ones to try. I particularly like changing the size of the needle. For no apparent reason sometimes the larger and sometimes a smaller one work better. I used to just keep testing until something worked. Good luck. Usually I found an answer so I guess the advice is to keep trying. Thread makes a difference also.

When I have trouble with stitching, I try sewing with newspaper between the fabric and feed dog.
