Many of the fabrics purchased for baby quilts say "not for use in children's sleepwear". That always concerned me when making a quilt for a wee one. Will be interested in reading the responses. I think I would make the quilt and then wash it to see how it turns out.

Go ahead and make it. Once it is washed you can decide where it should go.

Years ago we maide quilts from cotton as well as all kinds of blends. The blended fabrics still are holding up. The sky is not going to fall if you should mix some fabrics in a baby quilt. I make these quilts to be loved and innocently abused. They are not heirlooms. Stop worrying about whether or not it is quality fabric and worth the time. Because some fabrics are blends doesn't mean they are of less quality than all cotton.

There are NO quilt police!! If you have cotton blends, who's to say they won't work up just beautifully? If the kit was mine, I'd go ahead and use it without a second thought!!

Use the kit. If you don't like it or it does not seem just right for this occassion, save it for another or donate it. Either way you will have it out of your stash and that means room for more of other things.

Make it! If you don't care for it donate it to a charity. Please don't throw it away. Someone will love it.

I noticed that too. The fabric may just have a lot if sizing in it which gives it a different feel.

You can also make it more "baby safe" by using Quilters Dream - Dream Angel - batting. They have combined NATURALLY flame retardant fibers instead of chemically flame retardant. I use it in all my baby quilts. No, I don't work for them, just love their products.

I would definitely use it and make the quilt. I have used some quilts with blends and they are well loved by my children.

Oh whatever you do, do not prewash as you might not have enough fabric after washing. Ask me how I know.
