I Love this quilt. I love the subtle color scheme and the block design. If it were mine I would add another row, vertically. Otherwise, I like the idea of the framed borders. It's a beauty. Don't you dare throw it out!Lol

I made this disappearing pinwheel quilt a couple of years ago and then quit as I didn't like the colours. I regret using white with the light shades. If I could do it again I would use an ivory or beige and I would use darker browns/greens to contrast with it.
I am very temped to throw this out. Why work on something that I dislike right? Two years later and I still don't like it. However, I would hate to just throw it out. I'm wondering if there is a border that I could add that might make it a bit better, or more interesting?

Dont throw out!!!!! It's absolutely beautiful. Send it my way and I'll quilt it for you. Those are my colors. Seriously it's beautiful. Keep it and enjoy

I like this quilt, too! I like the muted colors mixed in with the darker -- is that green? -- and the pattern block. Personally, I'd add a narrow white or one of the light colors border, and then a wide border in that darkest green.

Okay I finished it!!
I took the top to the quilt store to look around for a dark border. I picked up a dark one and placed it on the table and decided out loud that was the one. The lady at the store said no you can't put that with that quilt it's too country. The fabric in my quilt are all modern - she was right. So I ask her to pick me out something.
She pulls one out and I tell her I'll take it. Nope apparently that's not the one either lol. Wouldn't let me buy it and said I need to try out a bunch. Normally I would but I told her how I wasn't invested and just wanted to finish it but we eventually found a modern print that matched well. It was lighter than I anticipated but I think it works well! I bought a dark fabric for binding to give it some pop.
I was going to do a small inner white border but when I was assembling it I just had a meh moment and just got 'er done! Simple line quilting and voila!
I really really appreciate all of your wonderful comments. Even though I'm not in love with the colours I'm glad I finished it and I'm proud of it! I have a neighbor in mind that might like a more soothing quilt.
Oh and I love that butterfly quilt!!

I like your quilt too, but I can definitely understand where you are coming from. I made a quilt that I absolutely hated once it got to the stage yours is. It ended up languishing in my UFO pile for years, like over ten!! When I got my longarm I needed something to practice on and guess what got dug out of the UFO pile. I did like it a little better after quilting it. I still deemed it a WOMBAT (Waste of Money Batting and Time) but then my friend saw it and she absolutely loved it. Moral of story, one man's trash is another man's treasure. If it pains you to keep it around as a UFO and you can't bring yourself to take the additional time, effort and $$ to quilt it then gift it to someone or sell it as a top on Ebay or ETSY or even here. You probably won't make what you have invested in fabric but it won't be a total loss. New longarmers will snap it up as a quilt to practice on. Or you can save it to practice FMQ on or if you someday get a longarm you can practice. The beauty of practicing on a quilt you abhor is you don't care if you ruin it!

Isn't it funny how differently we see things? I can't imagine you not liking this, or Lizzie not liking hers.

I finish all my quilt wether I like it or not (i dislike UFO) and surprisingly enough, there is always somebody who falls in love with them... and they can have them!

That's a lot of work to not finish, but I DO understand. Totally. One idea not suggested is what about a solid border and then, if you can find it, a border of polka dots that reflect the colors in the blocks? Just do something fun for the outer border, but reflecting the colors of the blocks. I think what your'e missing is the sense of fun...
