I lost my husband a year ago and I started quilt just before that. It has helped so much. I started getting fabric at garage sales, and asked at church if anyone wanted to get rid of fabric. Good luck

I look at yard sales and go to clothing give-a-ways. Buy a fat quarter or two at a time. If I had a good stash I would send you some but I am just building my own.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. I have had mine for 35 years ans he is going down and will not quit smoking.

I am so sorry for your loss. Give yourself time. It will all work out for you. Garage sales, yard sales, estate sales. Look for fabric and 100% clothes. Cut them up and use them for quilting. Also look for linen table clothes. They make great backings. Piece the backing if you need to. Whatever works. Check craigslist in your area, but be careful and don't pick up stuff by yourself for safety reasons. Post a "scraps wanted" under the right catagory and we can all pitch in and send you ours.

I want to start quilting but don't have the money or the stash. How do I start to build up so I can quilt?
