I have made these without the ribbon to be uses as thread catchers when doing hand sewing. I likde the idea of adding a channel for the ribbon to make a small gift bag which can also be repurposed as a thread catcher.

How about a quilt pot holder or a quilted oven mitt? They are easy to make.

Pocket tissue holders, I think someone did a tute on them a while back. They are fun to do and use up scraps and are quick. I have made them feminine and masculine and everyone really likes them.

I just made foldable/portable tread catchers for my quiling group for Christmas. Everyone loved them.
Found the pattern at Robin Quilts Etc. go to the tutorials. The pattern is so easy to make. If you get any
    really good ones please share.

    Bobbin minders:
Made from clear flexible tubing....look in plumbing at Home Depot/Lowe's/etc.
Get a diameter that will fit over a full bobbin.
With a sharp craft knife or box cutter cut tubing into 1/4" slices, or just wide enough to fit the depth of the bobbin.
Cut each slice open so you have a little "C" shape.....since it's flexible it will fit over the thread on your bobbin.
Package up 5 or 10 of them in a cute little Christmas-y bag or box and you're all set.
What a great idea. I hate how there is always threads hanging out of my bobbin box!

Love the tube idea for bobbin minders. Sure will help keep the threads from hanging out all over the place. LOL

Have you tried the microwave oven bowls or the oven dresses? They are easy to make. I made several of them this Christmas & everyone loved them.
