I know how you feel. I was just thinking I need to get rid of some of the fat quarters I have. I don't think I will ever really use most of them. It's kinda like an addiction...LOL

30 years! Wow....I think my oldest fabric is only 4 yrs. I'd love to look through yours!
It's funny because I loved the fabric, then didn't like it but held on to it, and now I love most of it again. I make charity quilts so its fun to make some "retro" ones from fabric I just have stored forever. I have vintage fabric that gives a whole new meaning to "vintage." LOL

Please keep in mind that prices on cotton fabric is going up - that's no a rumor it's a fact - I have very little stash well a lot for me put compared to some quilter that have posted pictures I have a penny worth from dollar - but I too have material that I bought with a specific person in mind my 3 granddaughter for instance - well I didn't get to their quilt yet but they grew and their taste has changed - I'm old enough to like younger looking things but they are at an age that young can be offensive lol – so chose wisely but in the end you alone can decide.

That's the one I was looking for. Thank you so much.

I feel the same as most of the ladies, but I have been making quilts w/o going to the shops on purpose and it takes longer to decide but it can be done.

Why not make a quilt of the fabrics you have in your stash? No cheating - you can't go to the Fabric Shop to buy more. Use up what you have. :-)

I am trying to use up my stash which will take me another lifetime and just purchasing what I need to complete a quilt. Of course if something really speaks to me I will purchase it. Long ago I gave away tons of fabrics that I knew I'd probably never use to others who would have the joy of working with it.

I do seem to buy at least some fabric for every project, but I do shop stash first. Some of my best quilts have been from using of bits and pieces and making do with whatever was in stash. So I think I'll hang onto mine for a while. :-))

Some of my stash is a memory book of trips and gaity I discovered along the way. They may or may not make it to quilts -YET-But I will enjoy them while I can. Caution though, the colors that are in now may not be in , in 5 or ten years. Remember the dusty colors of the 90's.
