I have an OLD Bernina machine that dates back to the 1970's. It belonged to my mother when she had a fabric store. She gave it away & that person gave it to me because it was in horrible shape. I spent almost $200.00 to get it "up to snuff". It is WONDERFUL!!!
I have 2 other machines, Necchis, which are very good BUT quilting is always done on the Bernina.

Congratulations on your new machine, I have 2 and they are a dream to use. Have fun learning all the new things you can do with it.

Congratulations on your new Bernina! As others have said, "Nothing sews like a Bernina." I had always wanted a Bernina but never lived near a dealer until I moved to the Charleston, SC area. I got one of the first Artista 200s. It is still going strong. I use it every day. I also love my Bernina serger. If your machine did not come with a walking foot, I'd get that. The Bernina walking foot is very expensive; but I have found that is is worth every cent. Again, congratulations! I am so happy for you!

Hi, I don't have a Bernina but would love to find a good machine that I could do FM quilting on. Can you tell me about what a Bernina 1130 is worth? There is one on ebay in mint condition for sale. (Now I done it, everybody knows tee hee) any info on approx. price would be great. Thanks

My husband just bought me that same machine. My new Bernina came with 6 classes on how to use it, clean it, etc. The manual is very helpful. I hope you love your Bernina as much as I do mine. Congrats!!

Also, look for sales on Bernina feet, that is when you will want to purchase your walking foot. They have many sales that you buy one foot at full price and get another half. This is how I have acquired my attachments.

I know your excitement! I have a Pfaff 7570 which I thought would be my forever machine, but nearby qs had Bernina 440QE on sale because of new 550 machine coming out. I couldn't resist because of the Bsr. I am thrilled beyond words. Thanks for the Bernina references, alleyoop.

I have a Bernina 430, about 4 years old now, and I still love it.

Congrats for making the move to a wonderful and reliable machine. I have taken jabbs and kidding from a few of my quilting acquaintances for spending way too much money but, while their machines have been in shops for adjustments, my Berninas have found themselves there only for warranty maintenance. Presently I have two Berninas and sold my 440QE so I could have room for the 820. My little 240 is super for hauling to sew days outside the home. Both machines are holding up without problems and I sew an average of 4 hours a day-five days a week. You will not regret your change. Enjoy!

Congratulations! I also had a Singer - still have it but it's only for paper piecing now. I had the same problems with it that you were having. I bought a Viking that I now use for everything.
