What about echo stitch the center block but when you get to the edge of that block let the seam meander off the block to represent your "thinking outside" and begin to use the circles to break up all the straight lines?

I like the circle idea. A dessert plate size with the circles overlapping. I was going to say like a Venn diagram, but if you haven't taught reading, that's no help. Like the Olympic logo, only all over the quilt.

Not to worry...Google is my friend! :) I like your idea...expecially since this wallhanging is a wedding gift & the design & colors were chosen to represent both the bride (teals)& the groom (greens). The print fabric in the center with all of the colors represents the 2 becoming 1. The overlapping circles could represent this in a similar way.

Not quite yet ready for FMQ. My Singer 403 really is not a good machine for FMQ. Plus I have never ever done FMQ and this is a very special wedding gift that I definitely don't want to use for practice. I'm going to be taking a FMQ class in May, and I have a vintage Singer 15-91 to learn on. Everyone in the vintage "club" raves about how the 15-91 sews great for FMQ. I can't wait until I master FMQ. Then I won't be having dilemnas like I'm having with this quilt & others.
