I would tell him it's not that I can't patch jeans. I WON'T. END OF SUBJECT.

I totally understand. People are always asking me if I can mend or hem up pants. Of course I can, but I hate to so I don't, LOL. I give them directions to an alteration shop.

Someone posted the other day that when they are asked to mend, she told them that she isn't qualified to do that properly. She is a quilter. I loved that, and will be using it next time I am hit up to mend something, lol.

I hear ya, sister! I'll hem, when I feel like it, but I won't patch for him. My kids, yes, but honestly it's not worth my time. My husband doesn't "get it" either. But your QB pals do :)

He doesn't get mad about it, he usually jokes about it to friends. He always says, she has a $6000 machine, but it doesn't sew on buttons. BTW, it is not a $6000 machine, lol. I didn't enjoy cutting up the jeans, as much as I thought I would, so I may just pitch them.

Nowadays, many people won't wear patched clothes, period. Years ago, when DH#1 was working as a welder, I frequently had to patch the burned out holes, after my MIL explained how it was done with a straight-stitch only machine.

Current DH wouldn't wear patched jeans.

I know, he won't wear them to work, either. Heck, people pay for jeans with hole them.
