    And for the other team ... thinking about doing Ohio Star (like the green shamrocks) with Auburn fabrics and possibly embroidery in the center to spell out "War Eagle" and "Auburn". Don't know yet how it'll turn out ... hoping to get ideas from this thread!!! lol

    Made this valentine quilt with machine embroidered centers and it was not difficult to put octagons together ... thinking of using this technique as part of the Auburn project.

    What college?

    The colors and school mascot and other important items about the school and it's history can be used to design a quilt. Look to see if there if already fabric for the school (cotton and fleece). You may need to search stores directly near the college. Check out the college bookstores and uniform stores in the area for design inspiration. Are you making this quilt for someone? Have you asked them for their input?

    there is a tutorial posted on this site ... it's where I learned it ... even tells how to make the octagon pattern. Let me know if you don't find it.
