I use EQ7. As a graphic designer I can import my blocks into other software and continue to design my quilts.

I also use EQ6, and I would love to get the upgrade to 7 for the photo editing capabilities. I know there is another popular program, Quiltpro, but I have never used it. From what I understand it doesn't have as many features as EQ but could still be a valuable tool.

I think the only downside to those computer programs is for some users it can get complicated. If you're familiar with your computer, enough to navigate well around these boards even, I think you'll be fine. It's set up in a similar manner to any other windows program, but there are some features that take a little practice. There are so many options it can even get overwhelming! But it's a blast!

I really love EQ for a lot of reasons...it comes with a library of blocks (pieced, applique, foundation pieced) and you can draft your own. You can use it like a design wall and upload your own fabrics even to see what your quilt design will look like with fabric you already have...you can modify designs already in the library. It's unbelievable what you can do with it. If you go to electric quilts website they have a demo section you can click on and it will give you a great idea of what you're getting. I use mine quite often and think it was completely worth the money!

I have quilt wizard, which is EQ's inexpensive "starter" program. It was around $29 at Joann's. It is very limited, however, in what it can do.

I also have Block Base, also by EQ. It has tons of blocks, and you can print rotary and paper-piece patterns, but it won't design a quilt for you. However, with EQ, you can import these blocks.

I also use a CAD program (I'm an unemployed drafter) to help me design quilts. I think there may even be a free downloadable CAD program out there, but seriously, Electric Quilt would probably be easier to use.

1,2,3,quilt- quilt pro, EQ,2,3,4,5,6, block base, and a couple of stashs, do not use quilt pro or 1,2,3, quilt, not enough choises, but love EQ
I gave the sister of my heart a barjello program and a lap top computer so she could design her quilts. she loved it, I have not tried that one, so have no input if good or not for me.

EQ6 - And I love it! Video demo's are available within the program when you need them plus a book with tutorials that are pretty helpful as well.

I use EQ7...started way back with EQ3. For me it's very intuitive and easy to use.

I use Quilt Pro 6. I started with version 4 and upgraded each time. It was quite a bit cheaper than EQ back during version 4. It's still cheaper but not as much so. It does everything that EQ does as far as I know--just not as popular or as well advertised.
